HTMMA Vignettes

HTMMA Vignette #1

One important and interesting event that has happened during my HTMMA career was the 8th grade Retreat. Everyone loved it, who wouldn’t love a week out of school and away from the problems of the busy city and the purring of electronics. It was a time to bond with friends, catch some R’n’R, try something new and find yourself in the vastness of life. For me it was a great combination of the pool, soccer, basketball, football, trying to do something cool of the diving board, very little skating, and talking and hanging out with friends. Testing your bravery on ropes course went onto a whole new level when you need to hang from ropes and make your way across telephone polls while hanging 40 feet off the ground, then the leap of faith at the end was the best part. Yes the ropes course is going to be something I am going to remember for the rest of my life, there were many times though when I thought it was a little crazy such as the last part where you had to jump of the telephone pole and zip line about 300 ft down diagonally to the ground. The course was one of my favorite experiences during the 8th grade. It may of have just been 4 days away from it all doing nothing, but I believe that each and every one of us came back a changed person.

Another great experience I have had at HTMMA was at the beginning of my first year hear in 7th grade when the school had just opened. To me Decatur was one of the best times I’ve ever had at HTMMA, not only was their and actual field to play different sports on and basketball hoops but there was no fear of getting hit by a car while playing in the parking lot we call a blacktop. It was a much more relaxed and interesting environment compared to HTMMA. We spent more time outside, and were able to have classes outside. And since my teacher Ms. Morton was lucky enough to have her classroom be the auditorium we never ran out of space and if we wanted to present something or if we were building something (ie. Castles) we would have a huge stage and the rest of the auditorium to do it in. Breaks were longer and even though the school day lasted longer than usual, from 8 to around 4:30, it was still ok because we were able to have longer lunches and breaks. Decatur was a great experience during my HTMMA career it was one point in time where we weren’t all surrounded by electronics that wouldn’t work.

Future Write

My high school years in Point Loma High were spent well, I graduated in the top 5 of my class and was interned at Microsoft Corporation. I actually got to meet Bill Gates and talk to him about his success in his career as a businessman. During that time I have been saving from multiple jobs to pay for college, my parents also gifted me a with a car. After my senior year I applied to a variety of colleges such as Stanford, Harvard, UC schools (to stay close to home if I didn't get in my first choices), and others. I was accepted into Stanford as an undergradguate where not only did I earn my Pre-Medical Degree and major in biology and chemistry, I got my first job. After that I was accepted into Harvard Medical for my astounding resume. By this time I was living in a small house working as an assistent pharmacist, I spent a good 4 years in Medical School and graduated top of my class. 1 or 2 years went by and I became the head pharmacist at a big branch in Southern California, but I was still waiting for the big job of being a full fledged doctor. Finnaly at the age of 29 I got what I had been waiting for I was offered a job as a Senior Dr. in New York. And I ran into my freind DJ when I decided I should choose a law firm in New York. The past 20 years were great and were probably the best years of my life, I think my favorite memory from those years was the time I was able to spend with my parents. I am now married happily with one daughter at the age of 33. (got married at 29). Oh ya, I am also happily driving around in my new Bugati (fastest street legal car on the planet lol :P)

P.S. DJ appears in this because he also found his big job oppertunity in New York.
